Wem Angling Club Rules
1) That the Club shall be called Wem Angling Club.
2) Officers shall consist of president, chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, secretaries and trustees who will be ex-officio members of the committee. Life members to be selected by the above.
3) The committee shall consist of not less than seven elected ordinary members, five to make a quorum and must attend six meetings each year, failure to do so makes them ineligible to stand the following year.
4) The club shall exist as long as five members wish it to. Voting at an AGM is restricted to senior paid up members (Ordinary Members) living within ten miles of Wem Town Hall and club officials and trustees. Life members can vote. Vote by membership card only.
5) The above rules can only be changed by 100% vote at an AGM.
6) Wem A.C. ordinary membership is restricted to persons living within ten mile radius of Wem Town Hall. Associate membership available for any person outside ten mile radius of Wem Town Hall (has the right to fish any of our rented/leased waters) Associate membership restricted to one hundred members. All new members to be vetted by committee.
7) Two associate members maybe co-opted on to the committee with full voting rights as the committee feel it fit.
8) Committee meetings to be held once a month, dates to be agreed.
9) Members are restricted to fish one peg at any one time with no more than two rods. Three rods can be used from 1st November till 31st March.
10) Any members causing vandalism, defacing or removing Wem A C posters, leaving litter, line, any other rubbish or lighting fires on club property or rented waters will be banned for life.
11) The chairman shall have the casting vote in the case of a tied vote at committee meetings and AGM’s.
12) Ordinary membership restricted to 250 living within ten miles of Wem town hall, No restrictions on members living within one mile of Wem town hall Members must have been a member for 5 years to retain ordinary membership when moving out of the area. Associated membership is restricted to 100 members

Members not joined by 1st March will have deemed to have cancelled their membership

Disabled must be receiving benefits and a blue badge parking number
All membership subject to committee approval.
13) Members are to carry membership cards at all times and produce them when requested by Bailiff or other members, failure to do so will result in being asked to leave the water.
14) No fires, digging of banks or trespassing on adjoining property.
15) Match rules and dates to be displayed at hawk lake and tilley green.
16) Close season only at hawk lake and to be fully observed. Hawk lake closes 12 midnight 31st March. Hawk Lake opens 16th June to all members. Access from 8pm 15th but no fishing until 8am 16th. No member to be on Hawk Lake during the close season unless on working parties. Sanction by committee – No pre baiting in close season. Till Green and Canal – Open all year. Working party and Officials can fish Hawk Lake from first Friday in June.
17) The AGM to be held at HeadQuarters of the first Thursday in September. All officers and Committee to retire and be eligible for re-election. Election to be by card ballot at the discretion of the chairman (voting rights as rule 4). All resoulutions for AGM to be submitted to the secretary in wrighting no later than the committee meeting in August. Audited accounts to be presented for 1st September to 31st August.
18) All bivvies and rods not to obstruct the lake patha and must leave a minimum of 2 feet clearance to walk past. Members may be asked to move bivvies and rods if obstructing the pathway.
19) No fish to be killed or removed without committee approval or E.A. permission.
20) No fish to be kept in carp sacks during daylight hours and no fish over 7lbs to be kept in keepnets at any time.
21) Environmental Agency rules to apply at all times.
22) Seven days notice will be given of all matches when pegs are to be left clear. Rearranged matches to be pegged around all casual anglers.
23) No shooting, boating or swimming, except by committee permission.
24) The above rules can only be changed with a 75% majority at an AGM .
25) All members are expected to check the cards of fellow members and none members be asked to leave the water, if refused you must contact the secretary or an official of the club to allow further action to be taken.
26) Any member finding a fellow member breaking the rules must first ask to see the members card, when in possession of this the offending member must be asked to leave the water and the card kept and sent to the secretary or official of the club as soon as possible for disciplinary action by the committee.
27) Wem A.C. is empowered to take whatever action is necessary against anyone infringing these rules and the club cannot be held responsible for the temporary or permanent loss of members fishing due to act of god, water abstraction, disease or pollution, or closure of water due to members breaking rules.
28) No pegs to be reserved by leaving bivvies or tackle on the peg.
29) Pegs to be clear 3 hours before matches start.
30) Bent hooks and nut baits are banned.
31) Carp anglers must use unhooking mats.
32) No peg to be occupied for more than 7 days and no return for 7 days.
33) All barbed hooks banned, whisker and barbless only.
34) No member under 15 years of age to night fish without an adult member.
35) Tilley pools rules see notice board at the pools.
36) All gates to be closed after use.
37) Members are to check notice boards on all club waters before fishing.
38) Ramps are provided for members and should be used.
